"Tranquil": So much for the traditional media
Okay, this little story I'm telling is even more depressing to draw than it is to write. Here's a bonus, just for today:

Inktober day 1
It's that time of the year again.
1: "Poisonous"
Apparently the "official" Inktober guidelines specifically involve working with traditional media. We'll see how hard I try to keep that up. But it worked pretty well for this sketchy scene.

I've got a good feeling about this Inktober
Day 1. In the spirit of Inktoberfest this painting was done monochromatically, using only one shade of yellow and black.
Day 2. Thought I'd use actual black and white, and this abstract mess was all that happened. Well, it was an educational experiment.
Day 3. I barely slept all night. Must have been something I ate.
Day 4. Just a lady in the woods. Maybe of the woods. As a marriage of green and brown I think it's rather successful.
Day 5. I discovered this list, so I guess I'm going to try sticking to that. If I can't think of anything better. But hey, most of those fit somewhat with what I have drawn up to now.
"Long".
Day 6. "Sword".

Inktoberfest day 4: Burley
For pixelatedpainter, who wanted to be a burly lumberjack who wanted to be drawn like one of Jack's french girls.
(You maybe had to be there.)

Inktoberfest day 2: Overcast
I'm bad at keeping a schedule. We've been over this before. But if there's one thing I'm good at, it's abusing the "leaf shape" brush in Photoshop to sprinkle autumn mood over stuff.
Honestly, if that brush isn't the epitome of "technology facilitating a specific aspect of the technicality of artistic work through specific tools" I don't know what is.
So I was going to go down this list
and make a picture of "fast" in the form of a couple of small children standing by a grave, but it turned into crap because I couldn't figure out how to draw children, so I made this instead, which turned out to be very clearly a picture of a child. This is a story about how little control I have over this process.

Inktoberfest, day -4: Rusty
I wanted to do something with just ink, for a chance. Automatic drawing ensued. Seriously, I started out thinking shadows, then a noirish dystopian cityscape, then hair blowing in the wind, and I ended up with monsters.

I started on this one over a year ago and now I must upload it before I really begin to hate it
Can you tell a solid eight hours of work went into this? For my novel (I can dream), an illustration for a chapter entitled "The hero is given the weapon with which to fight".
My hand hurts. But that's probably mostly from playing Devil Daggers.

The blue-green spectrum, take 1
Might as well get an early start on next month's challenge. And why limit myself to ink? I have had this idea of drawing a landscape a day, in my signature style of color blending, for as long as I can come up with interesting color combinations. So we've got that, and ink drawings, and if I'm not overly optimistic maybe some comic pages once I get in the groove. So much to do, and I've wasted so much time.
(Did you know most webcomic artists quit when they turn 35? I turn 36 in November.)
