...And it wasn’t all bad. People could find peace and comfort in death. The certainty of it. They’d argue life only has meaning because it ends. Its scarcity is what makes it precious. And it would be hard to say they were wrong, given their circumstances. While life was finite, it was valuable.
We don’t get that for free anymore.
We have to decide for ourselves what life is for. We have to work at it to give it meaning.
Now, I believe, our real lives begin.
